Is this the Samsung Galaxy Note 5?

Despite the leaked  picture below shows a device that could probably be  the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 5 this September, since the Galaxy S6 wallpaper is on, the cut out for the S Pen , speaker, micro USB port and  the headphone jack are there, this early render might not be the final product. However it looks a lot like the latest Galaxy S6.

It is hard to say if it has a glass back and a unibody design. 

In other rumors the mobile will sport an reversible USB type-C connector.

Samsung new lithium-ion batteries will double power capacity.





Samsung researchers have developed materials that double the power capacity of lithium-ion batteries.


Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) said the technology uses silicon cathode material coded with high-crystalline graphene to produce batteries with twice as much capacity as ordinary lithium-ion batteries.

The institute said the research result was published in the international science journal Nature Communication on Thursday.

The research team said the new technology is expected to enhance the performance of mobile devices and electric vehicles.

"The research has dramatically improved the capacity of lithium-ion batteries by applying a new synthesis method of high-crystalline graphene to a high-capacity silicon cathode," said Son In-hyuk, a professional researcher at SAIT. "We will continue to improve the secondary cell technology to meet the expanding demand from mobile device and electric vehicle markets."

The lithium-ion battery was introduced in 1991 and its storage capacity has been gradually improved. But the material's properties have limited improvements to capacity, failing to follow skyrocketing demand from the mobile and electric car industries.

Consequently, researchers worldwide have accelerated the development of materials for a high-capacity battery that can fundamentally overcome the limitations in graphite material.

One of them is silicon, which is expected to realize more than 10 times the power capacity compared with graphite. But the research has faced serious technological problems over drastic degradation of battery life.

SAIT said its researchers turned to graphene, a relatively new material that is physically strong and highly conductive, to solve this problem.

This material has up to four times the capacity compared with graphite and can double the energy density of ordinary lithium-ion batteries, the institute said.

Patents covering the new technology have been applied for in Korea, China, Europe and the United States.

Samsung Electronics and LG U+ Signed MoU for Next Generation 5G Technology.



Samsung Electronics announced that it will partner with Korean telecommunications operator LG U+ to jointly develop 5G technology, in a move that will further strengthen both companies. The agreement will also enhance Korea’s global leadership in 5G research and help drive the creation of standards for the next major phase of innovation in mobile telecommunications.

“This partnership will help us drive R&D, which in turn will power innovation in the global telecommunications industry. 5G networks will be based on the convergence of a whole host of incredible new technologies, from more advanced antenna systems to Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). Bringing together Samsung’s cutting-edge technology and LG U+’s expertise and understanding of end-users preferences as well as application and service trends, will be a powerful combination,” said DongSoo Park, Executive Vice President of R&D in Network Business at Samsung Electronics.

“Together we will be well-prepared for the 5G era. Through close collaboration and by leveraging LG U+’s extensive network management understanding and Samsung’s technology leadership, we hope to lead the next generation of telecommunications technology, not only in Korea, but around the world,” added Sun Tae Kim, Executive Vice President of LG U+’s Service and Development Division.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony on June 25, which marks the formal start of the partnership, was attended by almost 100 senior staff from both companies. The event also featured an in-depth discussion of how the two companies will collaborate; as a result, both sides agreed to a shared ‘5G Readiness Target’ for the year 2020.

The collaboration will focus on three areas that are of critical strategic importance to 5G’s future:

1) 5G global spectrum identification and acquisition

Identifying and acquiring appropriate spectrum for 5G use is a key goal of the partnership, with particular emphasis on high-frequency bands, due to its relatively high availability and potentially enormous data capacity. Given the lack of industry-wide agreement on 5G spectrum, Samsung and LG U+ have identified an urgent need to drive early global standardization. Together, the companies will contribute jointly to efforts to determine the best spectrum – subject to the consensus of the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) IMT-2020 group.

Samsung Electronics and LG U+ will prepare a collaborative white paper on 5G spectrum standardization and will appear jointly at key industry events to address this issue. As part of their submission for the upcoming World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC), the South Korean telecommunications industry and government have proposed the following six 5G spectrum bands as suitable for global usage: 27 – 29.5GHz, 31.8 – 33.4 GHz, 37 – 42.5 GHz, 45.5 – 50.2 GHz, 50.4 – 52.6 GHz, and 64 – 74 GHz.

2) 5G technology co-development

To establish a leadership position in 5G, Samsung and LG U+ will collaborate on future research and development. For example, the companies will co-develop Full Dimension Multiple Input Multiple Output (FD-MIMO) antenna technology, in order to deliver 5G’s throughput and data capacity potential.

Other joint R&D areas will include network architecture design, a review of key network elements and new millimetre wave (mmWave) radio technologies – both for network infrastructure and user devices. Performance targets in this latter area include vastly improved throughput capabilities and smooth service, even at speeds of up to 500km/h.

Lastly, co-development will also focus on Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) technologies, with the aim of sharply enhancing end-to-end operational efficiency and flexibility. Advances in these areas are considered essential to drive performance and support the next generation of Internet-of-Things based devices and services.

3) 5G technology global standardization

The partnership will focus not only on the determination of 5G spectrum, but the standardization of 5G technologies as well.

To this end, Samsung Electronics and LG U+ will actively participate in several key global standardization bodies, including the ITU’s IMT-2020 promotion group and the 5G Forum in Korea. These organizations are important platforms from which Samsung and LG U+ can jointly promote the adoption of 5G spectrum and technology standards. Together, the companies will actively contribute to the advancement of Korea’s ICT leadership efforts.

As detailed in Samsung’s 5G Vision whitepaper, the advent of 5G mobile networks is expected to exponentially increase cellular data throughput capabilities while drastically reducing network latency and operational costs. However, if this potential is to be realized, it will be essential to strike industry partnerships and collaborate during the ongoing development of 5G technology.

In addition to LG U+ in South Korea, Samsung has established partnerships with several operators across the world’s leading LTE markets, all with the aim of accelerating the R&D of 5G technology. These include collaboration with operators in Japan, Europe, and South Korea.

Samsung has also taken an active role in multiple 5G exploratory and standardization organizations, including the previously mentioned ITU’s IMT-2020, the World Radiocommunication Conference, and the 5G Forum in South Korea – as well as the Europe-focused 5G Public Private Partnership (5G PPP).



LTE Portugal: : Ericsson and Vodafone Implement FDD/TDD in Network.



Vodafone is implementing LTE FDD/TDD carrier aggregation in commercial network in Portugal, anticipating wider terminal availability later this year. This move will allow the operator to combine the best characteristics of LTE FDD and TDD modes. 
Adding TDD to the already installed FDD network significantly enhances the total downlink data capacity and improves subscribers' mobile broadband experience. In addition, FDD/TDD carrier aggregation extends the app coverage of the TDD layer by up to 230 percent.
Greater capacity and coverage will be needed in the short term as mobile traffic demand is expected to grow nine times by 2020, according to Ericsson Mobility Report projections (June, 2015). With wider device support expected later this year, implementing converged carrier aggregation technology in live networks now means the operator will be able to hit the ground running when handsets are available. 
Using only a software update to Ericsson baseband hardware already operating in the network, Ericsson's Networks Software 15B release enables simultaneous operation of LTE FDD and TDD.
Vodafone's current deployment for the trial in its commercial network in Portugal uses 15 MHz of band 3 (FDD 1800) and 20 MHz of band 38 (TDD 2600) and tests are supported by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon(TM) 810 processor with X10 LTE running in a device. The Snapdragon 810 processor with X10 LTE is a product of Qualcomm Technologies.

LTE Arabia: Huawei and Zain Saudi Arabia launch LTE Advanced HS Mobile Network.



Zain Saudi Arabia and Huawei, have announced the launch of the first commercial LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation in two frequency bands (Band 1 and Band 3) network in the world.
After the launch of its popular LTE network in 2011, Zain has focused on developing a more advanced mobile broadband experience to serve its customers in Saudi Arabia in a better way.
By launching an LTE-Advanced network in partnership with Huawei, Zain can offer superfast mobile speeds of up to 150 Mb/s with high bandwidth and compatibility with its existing nationwide LTE network.  LTE-A network was developed by implementing Carrier Aggregation in two frequency bands (Band 1 and Band 3). The new network not only doubles its capacity but enhances the user speed upper limit from 75Mbps to 150 Mbps in order to meet the growing levels of data usage from mobile subscribers in Saudi Arabia.
In collaboration with its strategic partner Huawei, Zain also set up the ‘Tech City’ project in Saudi Arabia to establish protocols to understand the best user experience, aiming to achieve the best voice quality, web and video experience in the Saudi market. The LTE-A CA solution is one of many technologies intending to significantly enhance the network efficiency and improve the user experience speed.

Apple`s next iPhone production has started.


According to Bloomberg Apple suppliers have entered in an early production of the next iPhones 6 and 6 Plus succesors.

The next iPhones will feature FORCE TOUCH capable display technology that is already present on the Apple Watch and the newest MacBook model.

The technology allows users to access different functions on a device depending on the strength of the pressure they apply to its screen (or trackpad).

The new mobiles will arrive with the same Iphone 6 and 6 Plus design but with a tough aluminium body.

Microsoft`s CEO Satya Nadella reveals official company mission, strategy and culture statement to staff.




Microsoft`s CEO Satya Nadella revealed yesterday an official company mission, strategy and culture statement to staff : to “empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.”
" We will need to innovate in new areas, execute against our plans, make some tough choices in areas where things are not working and solve hard problems in ways that drive customer value."
He also advert the that the culture he is trying to inculcate is dynamic and could change and evolve according to times :

“I believe that culture is not static,” Nadella concludes. “It evolves every day based on the behaviors of everyone in the organization. We are in an incredible position to seize new growth this year. We will need to innovate in new areas, execute against our plans, make some tough choices in areas where things are not working and solve hard problems in ways that drive customer value.”

Last week I shared how we are aligning our structure to our strategy. Today, I want to share more on the overall context and connective tissue between our mission, worldview, strategy and culture. Worldview. We must always ground our mission in both the world in which we live and the future we strive to create. Today, we live in a mobile-first, cloud-first world, and the transformation we are driving across our businesses is designed to enable Microsoft and our customers to thrive in this world. It’s important to note that our worldview for mobile-first is not just about the mobility of devices; it’s centered on the mobility of experiences that, in turn, are orchestrated by the cloud. That is why we think of these two trends together. What we do with our products and business models has to account for this fundamental transformation.
Strategy and ambitions. Our strategy is to build best-in-class platforms and productivity services for a mobile-first, cloud-first world. We fundamentally believe that we need a culture founded in a growth mindset. South Korea: Apple Watch just launched. Sales reached 2.79 million through June more than Samsung six watches with 2 million sold since 2013..




U.S. tech giant Apple Inc. officially began sales of its first smartwatch in South Korea on Friday, heralding a fierce battle with Samsung Electronics Co. to gain the upper hand in the wearable market. 

Along with six other countries, the Apple Watch is now available at online and offline shops in South Korea, roughly two months after it went on sale in major markets including the United States and China.

While the Apple Watch boasts similar key technologies as other wearables such as healthcare-related features, the device is unique in that it allows what it calls a "new kind of conversation," including sending a finger sketch to other users. 

It does not, however, come with a separate universal subscriber identity module (USIM) card that allows it to make calls independently like Samsung's Gear S or LG Electronics Inc.'s LG Watch Urbane LTE, but must be linked to smartphones through Bluetooth within a 10-meter distance.

Unlike the United States, the U.S. firm's Apple Pay system is not yet available in South Korea.

The Apple Watch has been gathering strong popularity abroad, with industry tracker Slice Intelligence claiming its sales have reached 2.79 million units through June. It hovers far above the around 2-million sales boasted by Samsung's six wearable devices launched since 2013.

Samsung earlier said that it plans to release its first round-type smartwatch, but it is yet to provide a detailed launch schedule, thus giving Apple the upper ground in the local market for the wearable segment.
